Already well on its way to the electric race, the Volkswagen manufacturer is strengthening its ambitions for the next 5 years.
This will notably involve a reorganization of its strategy with regard to the software part.
A new plan to accelerate on electric at Volkswagen
It has been a few years since Volkswagen (re)launched its electric activity, with the marketing of the ID.3 almost 3 years ago. Over the months, the ID. of the manufacturer has been enriched, so much so that it had sold more than 500,000 of these vehicles by the end of last year, a year ahead of the initial objective.
On the half million Volkswagen ID vehicles. elapsed, no less than 330,000 sales were to be credited to a single model, namely a certain ID.4.
Progress to be made on the software side
If the range ID. seems to largely appeal to motorists, however there is still a section to refine for the manufacturer, namely the entire software part. With this in mind, Volkswagen Group is said to have presented a 5-year investment plan to the supervisory board very recently, which provides not only for an acceleration of production, but also (and above all) for a revised software strategy.
Volkswagen has already confirmed that all the details regarding this new reorganization will be presented at its annual press conference to be held on March 14.
For the time being, at the start of 2023, in order to introduce as many people as possible to electric driving and to dissipate a priori on this type of engine, Volkswagen has officially launched its “ID. club”. This is a club of ambassadors which aims to connect owners of ID models. with prospects looking for information and willing to give it a try.
