An eight-year-old boy was hit by a car in Lower Austria on Thursday and was seriously injured. The child was pushing his bike with his father on the side of the road when the 40-year-old drunk driver left the roadway in a curve.
The accident drama happened on the LB55 near Krumbach (Wiener Neustadt-Land district). The father was able to jump to the side just in time, but not his son, the Lower Austria police reported. The eight-year-old was thrown 20 meters backwards in the collision and stayed three meters from the edge of the road in a meadow. Particularly reprehensible: The car driver simply drove away after the collision! 2.18 per mille “tanked up” The child was flown to Vienna’s SMZ Ost with the emergency doctor helicopter. The driver of the car was found by the police at his home address about two kilometers away. A breathalyser test revealed 2.18 per thousand. He was reported. His driver’s license was taken away from him.
