Three young bears were spotted on a road in Cavedine near Lake Garda. The mayor has issued a warning.

Bear alarm at Lake Garda: A driver filmed three bear cubs in Cavedine in Trentino. The bears ran down the valley and fled into a vineyard when they noticed the car. The driver published the video on Facebook.

“The fluffy bears just a few meters from the houses… where the children go to catch the bus… but they are cute,” he wrote.

“Startled bears can attack people”

The mayor of Cavedine, David Angeli, called on the population Facebook to be cautious. “The forestry authority of the province of Trento has been informed,” said Angeli. He urges citizens to call the emergency number 112 if they see any more dogs and to keep their dogs on a leash.

The mayor warns against chasing bears on the road by car. “South Tyrol News” quotes the mayor as saying: “Startled bears could encounter people and then attack them.”

French tourist attacked and seriously injured by bear in northern Italy

Just recently, a jogger in Trentino was attacked and seriously injured by a bear. Rescue workers took him to hospital. According to the province, the Frenchman was jogging in the forest in the municipality of Dro, north of Lake Garda, early in the morning. That is where the attack took place. The man called for help and suffered injuries to his arms and legs.

In response, a bill was recently approved to curb the spread of the bear population. It provides for the possibility of killing up to eight animals per year.
