Driver seriously injured – accident drama on Epiphany: 19-year-old dead

A 19-year-old from the Braunau district (Upper Austria) died in a vehicle rollover in Langschlag in the Waldviertel, the 20-year-old driver from the Zwettl district was critically injured. The police are investigating.

Tragedy involving two young boys on Epiphany in the Waldviertel: a 19-year-old man from Upper Austria died in a traffic accident in the Zwettl district, and a 20-year-old man from Lower Austria was critically injured. On a freight road in Langschlag, the 20-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle around 10:30 p.m. in a slight right-hand bend. The car with four occupants overturned and landed below an embankment in the forest. Four occupants in the car The large contingent of rescue workers saw a terrible picture at the scene of the accident: the driver was trapped in the car, the 19-year-old was lifeless on the back seat. Any help came too late for the young man from Altheim in the Braunau district, the alarmed emergency doctor could only determine death. The 20-year-old from Groß Gerungs was freed from the vehicle by the fire brigade and the Red Cross and then seriously injured by helicopter flown to the hospital. The other two passengers – an 18-year-old also from the Braunau district and a 19-year-old – escaped with minor injuries. Investigations into the accident are ongoing. This is also confirmed by Mario Eder, commander of the Langschlag fire brigade: “Some comrades then had to be looked after by the crisis intervention team.” More than 80 men were on site. A blood test from the driver should clarify whether alcohol was involved. Police investigations are ongoing.
