On Saturday afternoon, a 92-year-old Austrian drove his car from the service station in Eben as a ghost driver onto the Tauern Autobahn. After a short while he realized his mistake and stopped in the fast lane before turning his car around in the heavy traffic and continuing in the right direction. Witnesses noted the license plate number and reported it to the police. Initially, however, this could not find the driver.
After researching the data, the officers reached out to the man by phone. The stop then followed in the municipality of Bischofshofen. The driver’s license is gone, an alcohol test was negative. Nobody was injured.
