Pigeons are not welcome guests in the garden or on the balcony. We'll tell you here which methods you can use to drive away pigeons.
They crave the piece of cake while enjoying the sun in the outside area of the café, they feel like they are running all over their feet, the balconies are full and seem to become increasingly fearless, especially in the city: pigeons are extremely unpopular with people.
If you have one or more pigeons that visit your balcony or garden again and again, you need a quick pigeon defense. The longer you wait – and they have already built a nest – the harder it could be to get rid of the birds.
Chasing away pigeons
Make sure the garden or balcony is clean. Leftover food attracts pigeons. Even if the birds end up in your garden, chemical substances, violence or even weapons are not allowed as pigeon defense!
Drive away pigeons with tools
Similar to driving out the mole, pigeons are also sensitive to noise and movement. You should take advantage of this, these methods are effective:
- spikes: Plastic spikes are suitable for the balcony railing or the window ledge. If these are attached, the pigeons have no chance to sit down or even build a nest.
- Tension wire: As an alternative to the spikes, you can pull tension wire to make room for the unloved animals.
- Plastic raven: The plastic raven also serves as a pigeon scare, it is the perfect enemy for pigeons. Change the location regularly so that the birds do not understand that it is not a real raven.
- Wind turbines etc..: Anything that triggers unforeseen movements or light reflections scares the animals. You can put wind turbines in the garden or in the flower boxes, but CDs hanging on threads also achieve this effect.
- Pigeon net tighten: Doesn't look good, but keeps the birds away from your balcony.
Distribute other means for pigeons
Instead of buying home remedies, you can also become active yourself. It is important with these methods that they are carried out regularly. For example, you have the option of pigeons to splash with water (e.g. with a water gun) or yours domestic animal to let in the garden. Cat or dog reliably scare away the pigeons. And if nothing helps at all, contact the city administration.
