The government has set up a new website allowing you to consult the number of points remaining on a driving license.

In recent days, there has been a new way that is both simple and quick to check the number of points remaining on your driving license. Officialized by Gérald Darmanin, the mespoints.permisdeconduit.gouv.fr service is accessible in just a few clicks, and is intended to be “ great simplification for drivers » according to the minister.

Check your points balance in three clicks, it’s possible!

The new platform set up by the government allows users to connect in a simplified way, via the FranceConnect service. It is also possible to create a “Driver’s License” account, by providing some information such as name, first name, date of birth, without forgetting an email address and a password.

From then on, you will need to enter the driving license file number. Beforehand, the user must indicate which driving license format they have (credit card format or three-fold cardboard format), and provide the requested information. From then on, you can access your remaining points balance.

Next step: dematerialization of the driving license

Please note, as indicated on the website, this is the balance of points allocated to the driving license file at the time of connection, and therefore “ subject to possible other offenses committed and not yet recorded in the national driving license system “.

Remember that from next year, the precious driving license can be dematerialized, to take the form of a new digital format, accessible directly from a smartphone. Please note that this dematerialization will be possible via the France Identity application.

Initially, the digital driving license will not be intended to replace the physical version, but the latter can nevertheless be presented to the police during an inspection.

It will be a “digital alternative” in short, which could prove very useful to all those who tend to forget their driving license at home, but never their smartphone.
