  • In the summer of 2021, customs and police stopped a touring car and found kilos of marijuana in it.
  • The investigation has now been completed: the Aargau public prosecutor’s office is bringing charges, including against two travel companies.
  • They are said to have transported over 600 kilograms of marijuana to Switzerland, a million-dollar business.

Access takes place in the canton of Vaud: Shortly after the border, officials stop a touring car in the summer of 2021. In the trailer they find over 100 kilograms of marijuana, hidden behind a double wall. This find alone was worth over a million francs, according to a statement from the Aargau public prosecutor’s office at the time.

The find is not accidental. The Aargau cantonal police have conducted “extensive investigations” together with the Federal Office for Border Security, according to a new statement from the Aargau authorities. The arrested men had repeatedly imported marijuana into Switzerland.

Six car trips with drugs in their luggage

There was evidence of six smuggling trips between February and June 2021. On these trips alone, 622 kilograms of marijuana came into Switzerland. The public prosecutor is now bringing charges against two brothers from Kosovo and their two assistants. They would have organized the smuggling through their travel company.

For the main perpetrators, the indictment requires between four and six years in prison for commercial drug trafficking. She is also demanding a ten-year expulsion from the country. It is still unclear when the suspected drug smugglers will have to appear in court. It is the presumption of innocence.
