Drugstore foundation that really convinces us

Not every beauty product works on our skin. Some settle down, others make us look cakey. But not this one! Our beauty editor Friederike reveals the foundation for which she keeps receiving compliments – and you can get them in the drugstore.

I'm a beauty junkie through and through and I'm not exaggerating when I say I have around 50 foundations at home. Admittedly, nobody really needs that many. That's why I wear a different foundation every day – and when I get compliments for a product several times, I notice it immediately.

The more fluid, the better?

After all, what is more confirmation of a good foundation than a compliment or a question about which product it is? Right, nothing at all. And which miracle foundation I'm talking about now – I'll tell you: From the Total Control Drop Foundation from NYX.

The product is neither new nor does everyone know it. As the name suggests, it is a drop foundation, i.e. a very liquid texture that you can get from the bottle with the help of a pipette. Even if the risk of being completely drunk with it while half asleep is quite high, it is worth testing the texture once. It is like a second skin on the face – and no, that is not an exaggeration. The more drops you use, the higher the opacity. However: It is not a full coverage foundation, even if the advertising claims otherwise.

In general, very liquid foundations are perfect if you want a result that is as natural and skin-like as possible. There are also other brands that have such formulations in their range. The Ordinary's Serum Foundation or Catrice's HD Liquid Coverage Foundation are pretty close to NYX's product.

The Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation also comes with a pipette, and the finish is very similar here. I would say you don't see any difference between the two. The foundation just looks like skin. Not too dull, not too glowy. Here you also save a few euros because it is even cheaper. However, there is not such a large selection of colors in the drugstore; There's more online for that. You can also get NYX and The Ordinary in many colors and different undertones. And the better the color fits, the better the foundation will look in the end. It's kind of logical!

And another tip: It will be really nice if you work in the product with a beauty sponge, a firmly bound foundation buffer is also an option. You can forget about your hands right away – the product is simply too liquid for this. Oh yes, and one more thing: DO NOT put on white tops if you are using make-up with such ultra-liquid foundations. I speak from experience …
