On a program broadcast on EPTV, a Brazilian channel, a former Real Madrid footballer opens up about his alcohol problems, even when he was on the pitch.
Cicinho, whose real name is Cícero João de Cézare, confided in his fight against alcoholism whilehe was a guest on the show”backwash” on EPTV. High-level footballer, playing as a right-back, Cicinho had everything to succeed. In 2005, when he was only 25, he was recruited by the Real Madrid, one of the biggest football clubs in the world. “If you ask me if I have already been drunk in training at Realyes” confessed the 41-year-old ex-professional player. To mask the smell, Cícero João de Cézare said thathe drank coffee for his breath and bathed in perfume. According to him, it was easy for him tohaving alcohol as a professional gamer. Indeed, he did not need to have any money on him, the restaurateurs were happy to give him carte blanche.
In 2007, Cicinho was transferred to theAS Romabut his drinking problems never left him. He kept on drinking. In the interview, Cícero João de Cézare even told an anecdote that he started drinking at 2 p.m. and didn’t stop until around 4 a.m. the day after. It is this addiction that earned him his job at the Italian club. “Every time I arrived at Roma drunk, the leaders saw it and it discredited me“he did not fail to specify.
