Dieter Bohlen will get out of DSDS – faster than expected. The live shows of this year’s season will already take place without the jury veteran.

Dieter Bohlen, 67, has to vacate his jury place at DSDS after 20 years. Already in the next two live shows, the semifinals and the finals, the pop titan will no longer be there. RTL has just reported that. Accordingly, the 67-year-old will be absent due to illness. He canceled his participation in the shows himself.

Dieter Bohlen leaves DSDS faster than expected

RTL entertainment director Kai Sturm speaks out about the premature boarding-out: “We very much regret Dieter’s cancellation due to illness and wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.”

The semifinals and the final of the successful casting show would of course still take place, confirms Sturm: “The nine finalists now have to sing for victory without Dieter’s company. They are well prepared for that.”

Maite Kelly and Mike Singer in the jury for the DSDS semifinals and finals

The three-person jury has thus reduced to Maite Kelly, 41, and Mike Singer, 21. Whether another juror will join is not yet clear, according to the RTL entertainment director. They are currently still looking. But even without a third party, nothing would stand in the way of two entertaining shows: “Maite and Mike have done a very good job so far and will also handle the live shows on their own.”

DSDS semifinals and finals on TV

The two live shows, the semi-finals and the final, will take place on Saturday (March 27, 2021) and Saturday (April 3, 2021) and will be broadcast on RTL from 8.15 p.m. Oliver Geissen, 51, will moderate.

What’s next?

For 20 years Dieter Bohlen was looking for new singing talents at RTL, now it’s over. The upcoming season of DSDS, which will flicker across the screens in 2022, will inspire fans with a completely new jury, because this season will also be over for Maite Kelly.
