DSDS: starting shot for the new jury

Start of shooting for the 18th season of the RTL casting show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar": The new jury has started the recordings.

It is getting serious for the jury of the 18th season of the RTL casting show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar": Dieter Bohlen (66), Michael Wendler (48), Maite Kelly (40) and Mike Singer (20) announced on Monday (14. September) in Mainz on board the ship "Blue Rhapsody" started with the casting recordings. The ship will travel through the Rhine Valley to Duisburg until September 27 and will dock in Oberwesel, Boppard, Braubach, Koblenz, Andernach, Linz am Rhein, Königswinter, Cologne and Düsseldorf to accept potential candidates.

That is important to the "DSDS" jurors

The "floating 'DSDS' location" is "accompanied by the hotel ship 'Oscar Wilde' on which the crew and the jury live during the trip," the broadcaster explained in a message. Dieter Bohlen is looking forward to the candidates. "There should be incredibly funny guys there. Entertainment is everything, we want to laugh and have fun." New juror Michael Wendler has his wife Laura Müller (20) on board. He wants to rely on his experience when selecting candidates – he has been in the industry for over 20 years. "I will pay particular attention to the skills that are required to survive in this industry."

Mike Singer, the youngest "DSDS" juror in the history of the show, is "excited". But he is sure: "It will be a great time." For him it depends on "full throttle and spirit". "I want to see that they want it and do what they love. That's how I did it too." For Maite Kelly, the only woman in the "DSDS" jury, it is "not just a journey through beautiful landscapes, but also through different musical worlds." In the end, "our rough diamond should crystallize."

The new season of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" will be shown on RTL (also via TVNow) from the beginning of 2021.
