Dieter Bohlen shaped "DSDS" like no other. The pop titan has paved the careers of some stars with the casting show.

Dieter Bohlen (67) will turn his back on "Germany is looking for the superstar" after around 20 years. The chief juror has discovered numerous talents in his long casting show career and promoted them with hit productions. These former "DSDS" participants and ex-protégés of Dieter Bohlen were able to use the RTL show as a springboard and successfully establish themselves in show business.

Alexander Klaws

Alexander Klaws (37, "On the stage, get set, go!") Was the first "DSDS" winner in history. He won the casting show in 2003 when he was 20 years old. His successful winning song "Take Me Tonight" came from Dieter Bohlen, who has been on the jury since season one. Today the ex-casting star is successful as an actor, singer and musical star. After roles in the musicals "Tanz der Vampire", "Tarzan" and "Ghost – Das Musical", he played Winnetou at the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg from June to September 2019. For two years he played a leading role in the Sat.1 telenovela "Anna und die Liebe". He also has a "Let's Dance" victory to book. In 2020 he moderated the live shows of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar". Klaws also found happiness privately: During rehearsals for the musical "Tarzan", he met his current wife Nadja Scheiwiller (35). The couple have two sons together.

Pietro Lombardi

Pietro Lombardi (28, "Lombardi") is one of the most successful "DSDS" winners of all time. Almost ten years after winning it in 2011, the 28-year-old is still very popular. In 2020 the artist released his third studio album, "Lombardi". This stayed at number two in the German charts for a full 20 weeks. In addition, in the 16th and 17th seasons of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" he was a juror next to Dieter Bohlen, who also wrote numerous songs for the singer. Lombardi said on Instagram about Bohlen's "DSDS" exit: The juror was the one who believed him from the start: "Over ten years of friendship, over ten years of a team! It was an honor for me! You are and will remain one Legend."

Sarah Lombardi

While participating in "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" in 2011, Sarah Lombardi (28), née Engels, and winner Pietro were considered a dream couple. The runner-up and the winner married in 2013. Son Alessio (5) was born two years later, before the couple divorced in 2019. But not only privately, a lot has happened in Sarah Lombardi's life since the "DSDS" participation. The singer proved her fighting spirit in many TV formats such as "Das große Promibacken", "Dancing on Ice" or in 2020 as a skeleton in "The Masked Singer". In each of these formats, Lombardi was able to take home the victory for himself. The 28-year-old also seems to have found happiness privately: She got engaged to soccer player Julian Büscher (27) in November 2020.

luca Haenni

One year after Pietro Lombardi's victory, the Swiss Luca Hänni (26) conquered the "DSDS" stage and the hearts of numerous fans. In 2012, the then 18-year-old won the final and landed a number one hit with the song "Don't Think About Me" written by Bohlen. Both privately and professionally, it still seems to be going well at Hänni. After participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, in which he took fourth place for Switzerland with "She Got Me", he released his fifth studio album in 2020. In the spring of the same year he and dance partner Christina Luft (31) made it to third place in "Let's Dance". The two announced their relationship in July 2020. In an interview with spot on news, the singer was sad about Bohlen's farewell: "I would have liked to sit with him on the 'DSDS' jury. I am very grateful to him for everything he gave me back then."

Beatrice Egli

Again the victory went to Switzerland: With Beatrice Egli (32), a pop singer won the singing contest for the first time in 2013. In her career she has already produced nine studio albums and with them regularly occupied the top positions in the German and Austrian as well as in the charts of her Swiss homeland. Since 2019 she has been considered the most successful Swiss artist. From 2015 to 2017 she also produced musical journeys through her homeland and selected European cities for the public television station.

Prince Damien

Before taking part in "Deutschland sucht den Superstar", Prince Damien (30) got a taste of the casting air for the first time: In April 2015, he applied to the British casting show "The X-Factor". There he made it to boot camp. Just a few months later, the singer, who was born Messiah Prince Sheridan Damien Ritzinger, tried his luck at the German singing show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" – and won it in May 2016. The song "Glücksmoment" penned by Dieter Bohlen then reached Number one on the download charts. Prince Damien was not a flash in the pan. In 2016 he dubbed a frog in the animated film "Sing", in 2017 he finished second in the dance show "Dance Dance Dance" with Luca Hänni and acted as a musical performer in the play "The Band". In 2020, the singer was also the jungle king in "I'm a star – get me out of here!" and took part in the RTL show "Big Performance – Who is the Star in the Star?" part. The singer also knows about Bohlen's great legacy: "You were the reason we loved this show. You made so many dreams come true," he said on Instagram.

These ex-candidates also took advantage of their participation

Anna-Maria Zimmermann (32), who took sixth place in the third season of the show, and Norman Langen (36), who made it to eighth place in 2011, can enjoy successful hit careers today. Fourth placed Nevio Passaro (40) from season three is also still successful in music. He has released five studio albums and produces and composes for other artists. Other former candidates such as Daniele Negroni (25), Annemarie Eilfeld (30), Menowin Fröhlich (33), Kim Gloss (28) or Joey Heindle (27) enriched numerous reality formats such as "I am a star – get me here out! "," Celebrity Big Brother "or" The Stars' Summer House ". Gloss now makes her living as an influencer. Heindle, however, decided to turn away from the media and now wants to become a firefighter. Last year's winner Ramon Roselly (27) can already show the beginning of a successful music career. His debut album achieved gold status in Germany and Austria.
