5 things that stand out on your red carpet appearance

Duchess Catherine shines on the red carpet of the “EarthShot Prize” award ceremony. She mainly uses recycled pieces, but there is one thing in which Prince William’s wife strikes a new note.
The photographers should have been delighted when Duchess Catherine, 39, and Prince William, 39, appeared on the red carpet at the “EarthShot Prize” ceremony (October 17, 2021) in London. Because the royal couple not only dressed up for this special occasion, they even posed for the press, stopped and took time for photos – unusual for royals!
We also took the time to take a closer look at Kate’s special red carpet look. What five things did we notice?
1. Duchess Catherine opts for a 2011 recycler dress
Suitable for the occasion, Kate shows herself in a dress by Alexander McQueen from the ready-to-wear collection from 2011. So it has been in Duchess Catherine’s closet for ten years – and thus fulfills the dress code of the evening (green gown, in German: green dress). The delicate purple dress with flowing fabric flatters the 39-year-old: the tailored cut and submarine neckline conjure up a feminine silhouette.
2. Kate had the cut of the dress changed
Prince William’s wife almost always appears in public appearances in creations by well-known designers. However: not all creations that are presented on the catwalks of this world are suitable for Kate. For this reason, Duchess Catherine has some of her dresses tailored, including the Alexander McQueen robe. Originally the dress has a heart neckline, so it comes without a strap.

3. The belt comes from a bridal collection
The waist belt of Duchess Catherine’s dress is an eye-catcher with its sequins and small stone applications. But actually the accessories are not intended for an evening dress, but for a wedding dress. The belt comes from the Jenny Packham Bridal Collection from 2018.
4. A tribute to Pippa’s wedding?
Kate’s opulent earrings are also recyclers. The 39-year-old first wore them to the wedding of her sister Pippa Middleton in 2017. The pendant earrings with morganite gemstones by Kiki McDonough also go fabulously for their appearance in London: They pick up the glitter applications of the belt and match the color perfect for the dress of the triple mum.
5. Well-known outfit pieces, new styling
While Kate relies on familiar pieces when it comes to looks, she is clearly more willing to experiment when it comes to hairstyling. Because the 39-year-old not only enchants with an elegant side parting and gentle waves in her hair lengths, the hair color of the British Duchess also appears a little reddish.
