A face lift effect without botox, hyaluronic acid or a scalpel? Sounds almost too good to be true. Duchess Catherine’s former hairdresser reveals how the “grown-up chic” makes beauty dreams come true.

Duchess Catherine is known for her elegant hairdos. Big voluminous waves – a look she’s been celebrated for for years – are now threatening to be replaced by another hairstyle and it’s easy to understand why. Hairstylist Richard Ward and long ago Kate’s trusted man when it came to her hair, admits to the “Daily Mail” that he has a new favorite look on the 40-year-old: the hair tucked strictly behind the ear. According to the expert, these should have a rejuvenating effect.

Duchess Catherine is not keen to experiment with her hairstyles. Either her hair is elaborately pinned up, or she relies on a bouncy blow dry. Shoulder-length or chest-length, Kate’s hair is always long. So it’s all the more surprising when Prince William’s wife opts for a new hair look, as she did at The Queen Elizabeth Award For British Design. At the awards ceremony, Kate flaunted a relaxed sleek hairstyle with her hair pulled tightly behind her ears.

Richard Ward writes of the look, “This was a fresh and modern look that made her appear radiant and youthful”. And the new hairstyle is also well received on the Cambridges’ Instagram account. A user commented on the evening’s reel: “Catherine looks stunning with her straight hair”. Heart and fire emojis support this mood.

The secret behind the face lift hairstyle

But how can a hairstyle have a smoothing and rejuvenating effect? Kate’s former hairstylist explains the phenomenon: “Pulling the Duchess’s hair back like this opened up her face and showed off her beautiful bone structure in a striking way. Her jewelry popped and so did her eyes. She’s already beautiful, but this style suits her taking good looks to a whole other level of glamor.” At the “Top Gun: Maverick” premiere in London, Duchess Catherine again relies on the face-lift hairstyle and once again hits the bull’s eye. Before and after pictures show exactly what Richard Ward means by the words “radiant” and “youthful”.

Duchess Catherine likes to wear her hair open. If it should be more playful, the hair is wavy, for modern looks it is straight and close to the head. The latter hairstyle even has a face-lift effect.

However, the hairstyle is not that easy. Richard Ward admits that it takes him 90 minutes to get the sleek look right. Although no curls have to be twisted, what matters here is an absolutely frizz-free look. The right hair care for more shine already plays a decisive role. If you want to recreate the look at home, you should pay attention to the following:

  • Pamper your hair with a beautiful and rich hair treatment
  • Apply some hair oil to the ends before blow-drying. Then blow-dry your hair straight with a brush
  • After blow-drying, the hair is straightened with a straightening iron
  • Finally, two medium-wide strands are tucked behind the ear with hairpins or bobby pins and fixed with some hairspray

If you still want to smooth out flying baby hair, you can use a toothbrush and some hairspray to get rid of it.
