On the last day of her trip to Scotland, Duchess Catherine appears in pink. The choice of her dress has to do with Mila, who has leukemia, and with a touching promise!

It’s a story that couldn’t have been told more beautifully in a fairy tale book! For little Mila Sneddon, 5, a dream comes true: she can meet Duchess Catherine! Kate and the young girl met in August 2020 during a phone call about “Hold Still”, an illustrated book that the Duchess of Cambridge filled with carefully curated photographs. For the project, people from all over the kingdom were asked to submit portraits depicting helpers, heroes and small everyday niceties in the corona lockdown. From the more than 31,000 images submitted, a jury then selected 100 for the book, which was published last month.

Mila Sneddon: The young heroine from Kate’s book project

One of the selected photos shows Mila, who was in the fourth month of chemotherapy for leukemia during the first corona lockdown and whose family isolated themselves in different households because of this. During this time, Mila was separated from her dad Scott and her older sister Jodie for seven weeks, but they both came to the window every day to check on her. The touching picture of Mila and her father, which the Duchess is so enthusiastic about, comes from exactly such a moment.

During the phone call with Kate, Mila says she had to be brave and her mother Lynda explains to the worried Duchess how difficult the lockdown time was for the whole family. Nevertheless, the special circumstances of the sick Mila and her parents gave them the opportunity to focus completely and without interruption on their treatment.

Duchess Catherine makes a special promise

Curious, she asked Kate on the phone if she was wearing a princess costume. A question that the mother of George, Charlotte and Louis had to answer in the negative, but which gave them an idea. “What is your favorite color?” She asks the little girl, who answers with “pink”, and makes a promise:

Hopefully when we meet one day I will remember to wear my pink dress for you.

This special moment has now come: During her multi-day trip to Scotland with Prince William, Duchess Catherine meets little Mila in Holyrood Palace – and keeps her promise! Kate comes through the magnificent wooden doors in a silk blouse and is welcomed by the excited Mila and her mother.

The dress is held together at the waist by a narrow belt and falls smoothly down to the calves. It comes from the British label Me & Em and costs 615 euros. She also wears her hair half pinned up and pink Emmy London pumps.

A short clip shared on Kate and William’s Instagram account shows how Mila is happy to finally meet the Duchess. She too has dressed up for the visit to the Queen’s official Scotland residence and proudly turns in her glitter dress in front of Kate. The video is underlaid – certainly with a twinkle in the eye – with the theme music from “The Ice Queen”. Kate does not act icy, on the contrary: “I would love to hug you. I love your dress!”, She says warmly.
