Duchess Catherine became an aunt for the second time last week: her sister Pippa gave birth to little Grace. So far, Kate has not yet got to know the new family member.

Duchess Catherine, 39, and her younger sister Pippa Middleton, 37, have a close relationship and the two women are very close. Under normal circumstances, Kate would probably have been one of the first to visit her newborn niece Grace Elizabeth Jane – but that is currently not possible due to the corona pandemic.

Duchess Catherine: Hope is in the next week

So far, only Carole Middleton, 66, has been seen visiting her daughter Pippa, the British government’s corona measures prohibit more contacts. That could change soon, however: From Monday (March 29, 2021), two households of any size in Great Britain will be allowed to meet outdoors.

This means that Duchess Catherine, her husband Prince William, 38, and their three children Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2, Pippa, her husband James Matthews, 45, two-year-old Arthur and little Grace will be able to visit her in her private garden in the coming week. Finally! A bit of “quality time” with the family will certainly come in handy for Kate and William after the turbulent last few weeks.

Even so, the Cambridges and Matthews must keep their distance and avoid physical contact. That means: The royals are not allowed to take the newborn in their arms, but only to admire them from a distance.
