Duchess Kate invites committed helpers from all over Great Britain to a Christmas service.

On December 8th, Duchess Kate (39) welcomes numerous guests to a Christmas service in Westminster Abbey. On the Instagram account the Duchess and her husband, Prince William (39), a picture of a corresponding invitation was published.

“This Christmas we are celebrating the incredible work of individuals and organizations across the country doing everything they can to support their communities,” read an accompanying comment. Supported by the Royal Foundation, the Duchess will hold a church service with Christmas carols in the coming week, which will bring many of these people together.

At the event, they want to look back on the past 18 months and not only think of the challenges of the corona pandemic, but also of the positive. What is meant are, among other things, the “people and organizations who pull together in their communities” and the “unsung heroes” who have helped others.

ITV is showing the event on television

The event, which is scheduled to start in the late afternoon, is being taped and is due to be shown on UK television in December. ITV announced on November 30th that the station would broadcast the recording. It was recently rumored that William and Kate should have canceled a planned Christmas special on the BBC. The reason for this is said to be the controversial documentary “The Princes and the Press” that the broadcaster had broadcast. It was then rumored in the British media that ITV could broadcast the whole thing.

According to the broadcaster, guests are expected to include volunteer helpers, teachers and employees of charity organizations. But also people who recently had a bereavement or otherwise socially isolated people should be present. During the service, the Westminster Abbey choir will sing Christmas carols. Readings and other musical performances by a wide variety of guests are also on the program. The event is intended for everyone, regardless of their religion.
