Duchess Kate (38), Duchess Camilla (72), Countess Sophie (55) and Duchess Birgitte (73) have been helping the members of the NHS volunteer service in recent weeks and have made themselves available as contact persons for a care phone, such as the Royal Voluntary Service has announced in a statement. The service is designed to help old and isolated people in the Corona crisis.
The offer of help runs under the name "check-in and chat". According to the organization, Duchess Camilla spoke to 85-year-old Doris Winfield, for example. "Calling the Duchess of Cornwall meant the world to me. We talked about self-isolation and shared hobbies," said Winfield in a statement. With their cooperation, the members of the British Royals also wanted to draw attention to the volunteer week, which will take place in the UK from June 1 to 7, 2020, and thank the helpers for their work.
The British royal family has expressed its thanks several times in the Corona crisis, for example on "International Nursing Day" (May 12). Among others, Queen Elizabeth II (94), Prince Charles (71), Duchess Camilla, Prince William (37) and Duchess Kate (38) thanked medical staff around the world for their work by video call.
