A spokesman for Duchess Meghan has commented on a change in Archie's birth certificate. The palace is said to have initiated this.

Duchess Meghan (39) said by means of statements from a speaker that her name was changed in the birth certificate of her son Archie (1). The British "The Sun", which published an alleged copy of the original document, had previously reported that "Rachel Meghan" had been deleted from the documents. What remained were their titles: "Your Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex". "The name change in public documents in 2019 was made by the palace, (…). This was not requested by either the Duchess or the Duke of Sussex," said the statement that "Page Six" has received.

"The Sun" had speculated about why the name change had come about. Among other things, it was interpreted as a homage to Prince Harry's (36) deceased mother, Princess Diana (1961-1997). During her lifetime she had used the address "Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales". A possible swipe towards the British royal family was also suspected. "Perhaps another sign that they desperately want to differ from the royal family," said Ingrid Seward from "Majesty" magazine the paper.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's son Archie saw the light of day on May 6, 2019, and the birth was registered on May 17, according to "The Sun". The change is said to have been made on June 5th.
