Duchess Meghan + Prince Harry: is your million dollar deal in danger?

It was her first deal after Megxit: Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry signed a million dollar contract with the streaming giant Netflix. However, unsightly speculations are currently growing around the business relationship.

Since moving to the United States of America, Duchess Meghan, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, want to build a “financially independent life”. Groundbreaking for this was her deal with Netflix. As reported by the British and US media last year, it should be around 100 million US dollars (around 84 million euros). A deal with Spotify flushed a further $ 23 million (around 19 million euros) into the cash register.

Is Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry running out of time?

The hope of all those involved was great, the tension increased: Which projects will the Sussexes implement? The fact is: So far only the Netflix documentary “Heart of Invictus” has been confirmed, which will take a look at the participants in the Invictus Games. It has not yet been broadcast. So far, Meghan and Harry have only published a 35-minute podcast episode on the Spotify audio platform. The award-winning podcast producer Rebecca Sananes, who was hired as Head of Audio at “Archewell Audio” a few days ago, should help.

Nevertheless, there is still no trace of other projects – much to the displeasure of some Royal experts. “When the Sussexes start to unveil their TV and podcast projects, the only chance they have to impress audiences and make a name for themselves is if they get good ratings or critical acclaim,” notes the Australian Journalist Daniela Elser. “When the novelty and glamor of working with members of the royal family wears off, if they don’t have streaming numbers or a number of awards, will their contracts be extended?” Asks Elser, adding:

“Basically, they have a short window of time to prove they are worth the hundreds of millions that corporations have put on them.”

In her opinion, the Sussexes are running out of time: “The fact is, even billionaire companies can’t afford to keep pumping truckloads of money into two very, very famous contractors unless they turn out to be a solid investment.” The new two-time parents are currently on their five-month parental leave.

With their Netflix deal, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are following in the footsteps of Barack, 59, and Michelle Obama, 57. However, the Obamas have already achieved worldwide success with their documentaries and even received an Acadamy Award for a project. There is still a long way to go for Meghan and Harry.
