Harry and Meghan's much-anticipated Oprah Winfrey interview is history. Many, especially black celebrities are enthusiastic.

Since the interview of Duchess Meghan (39) and Prince Harry (36) with Oprah Winfrey (67) was broadcast in the USA, the celebrity reactions to it have increased. Above all, stars who are friends with the native American and former actress, as well as numerous black celebrities, speak up.

In the conversation with Winfrey, Meghan reported, among other things, of racist behavior in the British royal family while she was pregnant with her son Archie. Accordingly, there have been conversations about "how dark his skin could be when he is born," said Meghan.

Serena Williams demands respect for women

Tennis star Serena Williams (39) supports her long-time friend with lovely lines on Twitter: "Meghan Markle (her maiden name, editor.), My selfless friend, lives her life – and thus sets a good example – with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every day what it means to be really noble," praises Williams and continues, "Your (Meghan's) words illustrate the pain and cruelty she has experienced."

"I know firsthand how sexism and racism are used by institutions and the media to denigrate women and people of color, to minimize us, to break and demonize us," Williams continued. "We have to recognize that we have an obligation to condemn malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism," she says. "The psychological consequences of systematic oppression and harassment are devastating, cross-border and all too often fatal," warns the sports professional.

"I want Meghan's daughter, my daughter and your daughter to live in a society that is characterized by respect," said Serena Williams, who has been the mother of a daughter since September 2017. Duchess Meghan is currently expecting her second child, a girl, after son Archie (22 months).

Gabrielle Union wants to keep her back free

US actress Gabrielle Union (48) writes on Instagram: "I hope that we will all continue to rally around women who dare to stand up for themselves and others. We see you, we support you, we have your back. " US actress Viola Davis (55) comments on this with a simple "Yes !!!". And from colleague Selma Blair (48) come these loving lines: "I have always known what kind of diamond you are. And it is time I told you. I hope we see each other again one day. .. beautiful woman. Xx s. "

Even civil rights activists are getting involved

Bernice Albertine King (57), the younger daughter of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) and a preacher herself, writes in several tweets: "The royal family is not a shield against the destruction and despair of racism." And: "I am grateful that #MeghanMarkle is still there." As well as: "We can know that racism exists in an institution and still feel sorry for someone who has been hurt by it. #MeghanMarkle".

The American writer, poet and activist Amanda Gorman (born 1998), who read a poem for Joe Biden (78) at the inauguration ceremony, commented on Twitter: "Meghan was the crown's greatest opportunity for change, regeneration and reconciliation in a new era. They not only maltreated their light – they missed it."
