At her wedding, Duchess Meghan charmed an audience of millions with her Givenchy dress. But one person of all people is said not to have convinced her: the Queen.

On May 19, 2018, Duchess Meghan, 41, and Prince Harry, 38, said yes in the chapel of Windsor Castle. Five years have now passed – but the recordings of this major event are still present for many. Nobility expert Katie Nicholls also talks about this very special day in her book “The New Royals” and reveals why the Queen, † 96, should not have been a friend of Meghan’s dress.

Duchess Meghan: That’s why the Queen didn’t like her wedding dress

“The Queen was surprised that Meghan wore pure white on her wedding day,” recalled a source close to the Queen, adding, “Maybe it’s a generational thing, but she thinks if you’ve been married before, wear it off-white for your wedding day”.

At her second wedding, Meghan opted for pure white

So instead of choosing an outfit in an off-white hue, Meghan beamed at her second wedding to Prince Harry in an all-white custom made by Givenchy designer Claire Waight Keller. Something that, according to the source, should have displeased the Queen. Because before Harry, today’s mother of two married film producer Trevor Engelson on September 10, 2011. The marriage broke up in 2013.

Queen Camilla, 75, is said to have done the right thing from within her own ranks when she married King Charles III, 73, on April 9, 2005. Because it was also her second wedding, on July 4, 1973, she gave the vows to Andrew Parker-Bowles. At her wedding to Charles, Camilla didn’t shine in a white dress, but wore a beige-bluish silk chiffon dress, over which she wore an elaborately embroidered and pearly silk coat. Philip Treacy’s feather-studded hat was also a particular eye-catcher.
