“I have a gambling problem,” admits the Serb (38) who lives in Salzburg and also concedes a large part of the allegations at the trial on Monday in the regional court: According to the indictment, the accused had manipulated the cash register system dozens of times in the summer of 2021 as an employee of a Salzburg gas station. Partly conditional prison sentenceAccordingly, he booked goods such as sausage rolls or motor oil 90 times and used the credit to buy vouchers such as Paysafecards. He gambled away the money online. “I was trapped in cocaine and gambling addiction. At some point I panicked and stopped going to work.” More than 5,000 euros in damage was caused by embezzlement and fraudulent misuse of data. “I’m sorry, I’m ready to pay everything back,” assured the guilty criminal. Sentence: 18 months partially conditional imprisonment, six of them unconditionally.
