Duel of the billionaires?: “Walrus” Musk challenges Zuckerberg to a cage fight

Duel of the billionaires?
“Walrus” Musk challenges Zuckerberg to a cage fight

Battle of the tech giants or just trash talk? At least the two billionaires and CEOs Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk meet on social media platforms for a cage fight. The rivalry has an economic background.

Twitter boss Elon Musk and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg have apparently agreed that two of the world’s best-known technology billionaires want to compete in a cage fight. Both leave open how much seriousness is behind it, but the trigger may have been a planned expansion of Facebook mother Meta.

Under the name “Project 92”, Meta is currently working on a text-based short message service, i.e. a direct competitor to Twitter. Company founder Mario Nawfal shared this message on Twitter and linked Musk, who promptly replied. “I’m sure the world can’t wait, just under Zucks [Zuckerberg] Standing there with your arms and having no other options,” Musk wrote.

Zuckerberg just wants to know where to compete against Musk.

A Twitter user pointed out to the billionaire that he had to be careful of Zuckerberg, after all he mastered the martial arts jiu-jitsu. “I’m ready for a cage fight if he is”, Musk tweeted and apparently aroused the interest of Zuckerberg. “I love you Elon, but you better start exercising,” the meta boss replied.

“Send me location”

On his Instagram platform, he posted a screenshot of the Twitter skirmish, including the caption “Send me location,” a reference to Russian former MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov. He had always responded to challenges as if it were never about the circumstances of a fight, but only about the venue. Musk then had another idea ready for the “where”: “Vegas Octagon,” he wrote. In the big city of Nevada, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) regularly organizes its MMA fights, which take place in a cage.

But the fun wasn’t over for Musk, 51. “I have this great move I call ‘The Walrus’ where I just lie on top of my opponent and don’t do anything.” Musk almost never trains, he continued. “Except when I pick up my kids and throw them in the air.” For Zuckerberg, jumping into the cage would be less of a challenge. The 39-year-old has been training mixed martial arts (MMA) for a long time and recently even won jiu-jitsu tournaments.

It remains to be seen whether the two will face each other in the cage, but they will definitely become direct rivals. According to media reports, Meta has already presented its employees with plans for a text-based social network that is intended to compete with Twitter.
