Here is the program of science fiction films announced for the year 2023.
The year 2022 will have offered us interesting film proposals, good surprises and some gems: Avatar 2, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Vesper Chronicles, to name just a few cinematic events. We can only hope for a good vintage also in 2023: and the program is enticing.

JUNG_E (January)
Netflix will offer, January 20the South Korean science fiction film JUNG_E plunging us into a post-apocalyptic future. The heroine will try to end the civil war by cloning the brain of her mother, a “heroic fighter”.
65: The Land Before (March)
A spaceship crashes into a strange planet…which is none other than the Earth of 65 million years ago. The pilot, Mills (Adam Driver), and little Koa (Ariana Greenbalt), are the only two people to have survived… but the adventure has only just begun. We might be scared of a nanar, but it’s a Sam Raimi movie, starring Adam Driver, and the trailer is cool: frankly, we’re waiting for it.
In theaters March 15, 2023.
Transformers: Rise of the Beast (june)
For fans of the saga transformers, Rise of the Beasts is the sequel to Bumblebee (released in 2018). The action will take place during the 1990s and will take us all around the world.

True Love (october)
Not much is known about the sci-fi movie True Love, except that the team working on the project is doing a good job. The feature film is directed and written by Gareth Edwards, to whom we owe RogueOne. The director of photography, Greig Fraser, also worked on RogueOneas well as Dunes and The Batman. In the cast, Gemma Chan and John David Washington.
In theaters October 2023.
Dune: Part 2 (November)
This is a highly anticipated cinematic event in 2023: the second part of the Dunes by Denis Villeneuve is scheduled for November 2023. Timothée Chalamet will be there again, alongside Zendaya. This sequel adapts the second half of the first volume of DunesFrank Herbert’s cult sci-fi book.
In theaters November 3, 2023.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird (november)
Films adapted from The Hunger Games are uneven, but the saga is still at the top of the basket of young adult dystopias. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird is a prequel, long before the heroine Katniss enters the scene. It will be adapted from the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. We will be curious to see the result.

The Deathship (during 2023)
Halle Berry is the star of this sci-fi movie expected on Netflix later this year. Sara Morse’s husband mysteriously disappears from their farm and a year later she discovers a strange object in the house. With her children, she embarks on an adventure to understand what is happening.
The Pod Generation (during 2023)
The Pod Generation is a sci-fi romantic comedy written and directed by French director Sophie Barthes, starring Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film is set in the near future where AI is commonplace (and nature, somewhat forgotten). Rachel, thanks to her work, can test a tool developed by a tech giant, Pegasus, which allows couples to carry a child fairly via detachable artificial wombs called pods. His companion, Alvy, a botanist, is dubious, but accepts the experiment. The parenting of the future?
Rebel Moon (during 2023, or 2024)
Zack Snyder’s new movie is due out on Netflix in late 2023 (maybe 2024 in case of production delays). The official synopsis evokes a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy, suddenly threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Balisarius. The colony mobilizes “a young woman with a mysterious past” to gather warriors on different planets.
This film was in development for 15 years and, surprisingly, Zack Snyder originally proposed it to Lucasfilm as a spin-off of the Return of the Jedi in the franchise Star Wars.
