The fans will have to wait until autumn 2023 for “Dune 2” to start. But then another star could be seen.

Austin Butler (30) could soon be in front of the camera for the sequel to “Dune”. The actor is located according to “The Hollywood Reporter” in negotiations to star in part two of Denis Villeneuve’s (54) science fiction work. Production is scheduled to start in the summer. Then Butler could be celebrating his big break. Directed by Baz Luhrmann (59), the actor will take on the role of Elvis Presley in the biopic “Elvis”. The film is scheduled to open in June.

Three big “Dune” roles still open?

Three significant roles remain to be cast before Dune 2 begins filming, reports say. Florence Pugh (26) should also be in conversation. The stars of part one like Timothée Chalamet (26), Zendaya (25), Rebecca Ferguson (38), Javier Bardem (53) and Josh Brolin (54) will be back. The sequel is scheduled to hit theaters in October 2023.

The first part of “Dune” showed only half of Frank Herbert’s (1920-1986) novel “Der Wüstenplanet” from 1965. Part two is now supposed to show the rest of the story. Paul Atreides (Chalamet) will fight alongside the Fremen to liberate the desert planet of Arrakis from Harkonnen rule.

Austin Butler could play Feyd-Rautha, the wily nephew of Baron Wladimir Harkonnen, portrayed by Stellan Skarsgard (70). In the sequel, Feyd-Rautha could become Paul Atreides’ great adversary. Sting (70) starred as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in David Lynch’s (76) “Dune” film adaptation from 1984. Actors are also likely to be cast for the roles of Emperor Shaddam IV and one of the Emperor’s daughters, Princess Irulan.
