Dune 2 postponed to 2024? Warner is considering postponing the release of Denis Villeneuve’s film

And if the return to Arrakis was for later? The highly anticipated Dune: Part Two by Denis Villeneuve could no longer be released on November 1 in theaters. Warner Bros. would actually consider postponing the film… to 2024.

Aquaman 2 also concerned

According to sources close to Warner Bros. and relayed by our colleagues from varietythe studio is reportedly considering postponing several of its scheduled productions for late 2023.

These movies are the highly anticipated Dune: Part Twobut also Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (expected December 20, 2023) and The color purple (January 24, 2024). The reason ? A massive strike by screenwriters and actors is underway in the United States.

This massive strike simply prevents actors from participating in the promotion of films, which would seriously handicap the release of Dune: Part Two and its star cast: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh and Austin Butlers. In the long term, this would also have an impact on the next Oscars, which will take place on March 10, 2024.

As a reminder, a first strike by the Writer’s Guild of America, involving more than 11,500 workers in the industry, began on May 2. On July 14, the Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) and its more than 116,000 members joined the movement, putting a multitude of film and series production on hold indefinitely.

American screenwriters and actors are asking to review their contracts with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the big Hollywood studios. In particular, they demand better consideration for low wages and financial compensation related to streaming.

No information has been made official yet, but Warner Bros. will have to negotiate with Legendary Entertainment, co-producer of the film, to decide on a possible other release date. To be continued.

Dune: Part Two is currently expected in theaters on November 1, 2023.
