The science fiction epic “Dune” is based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert and tells the adventures of Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka”), on the desert planet Arrakis. There a power struggle breaks out in the Galactic Empire, which Paul tries to win for himself and prove himself as a hero of the oppressed.

In the trailer for the science fiction adventure “Dune”, viewers get a first impression of the mass bombing and destruction of Arrakis. At the same time, House Atreides is sent by the Emperor to the desert planet to bring about peace. But Paul and his family are in danger and are caught up in the power struggles.
Dune: plot
“Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, who is the son of Duke Leto and is sent with his family to the desert planet Arrakis. Huge sandworms are rampant on the dangerous planet and produce the drug Spice, which allows people to expand their spiritual potential. But when a bitter power struggle breaks out in the Galactic Empire over the valuable raw material, Paul and his followers are drawn into it.
Dune: production and cast
Frank Herbert’s novel series was made into a film in 1984 with “The Desert Planet” by David Lynch (“Twin Peaks”) and with Kyle MacLachlan (“Sex and the City”) in the lead role. The miniseries “Dune – The Desert Planet” followed in 2000, which was directed by John Harrison. The film adaptation by director Denis Villeneuve (“Blade Runner 2049”) is the third film adaptation.

Dune: Sequels
After “Dune”, “Dune 2”, the long-awaited second part of the popular science fiction film series with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in the leading roles, will follow in February 2024. It continues the second half of Frank Herbert’s first novel “The Desert Planet”. HBO’s prequel series “Dune – The Sisterhood” is also planned, which will tell the story of the successful “Dune” films.
