TO REMEMBER
While waiting for the Mario wave, which is arriving in cinemas this week, another adaptation of a cult video game is a hit on the big screen in the United States. It is Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Thieves, released this weekend across the Atlantic (and in France on April 12). The film tops the charts and starts at $38.5 million.
As our colleagues from Boxoffice Pro“compared to other action-fantasy comedies in recent years, it’s 6% more than 2017’s Jumanji ($36.1M) or even 27% more than recent Shazam! Rage of the Gods ($30.1M)“. Note that it is also much more conclusive than the first adaptation for the big screen of this video game, released in 2000: Dungeons & Dragons had brought in $ 7.2 million.
Many continuations are then in the ranking. Only two novelties, other than Dungeons & Dragons, are positioned. Among them, an Easter film, His Only Sonand the thriller A Thousand and One, with no release date in France. Another Easter movie closes the ranking, jesus revolution.
