during the flood, the animal cruise has fun

THE “WORLD’S” OPINION – MUST SEE

At the beginning there were two mice, Vini and Tito, musicians, composers and singers entirely occupied with their dream: to become music hall stars. In vain: social networks remaining deaf to their talent, nothing came. Then, one day, not far away, God spoke to Noah. And asked him to build a boat to gather a couple of each animal species in order to save them from the flood that was about to come.

What the brave man set about with fervor. He charged the birds with bringing invitations to the wildlife concerned and built the ark without delay. The two mice, having received no cardboard, began, when the time came, to force their way. After multiple reversals of fortune, they finally managed to get on board, among animals and creatures much larger and less affable than themselves.

Tele-hook type competition

It is easy to imagine the fantasy that such a prologue can give free rein to. On this point, the animated film by Brazilians Sergio Machado and Alois Di Leo does not disappoint, which, at the end of a well-executed exhibition, will endeavor to transform this closed-door sailing on the waters into Cruising has fun. And this, despite the difficulties that will inevitably arise from the cohabitation of species, whose instinctive nature diverges completely, the predatory lion, for example, hardly getting along well with its compatriots. Particularly with the little ones, whose appetite pushes them to want to devour.

And, as there is no cruise without a concert or show, the ark – initially a place of conflicts and fraught battles – will transform, in the second third of the film, into a vast musical stage – a pretext for a competition of type of talent show whose project, in addition to entertaining, aims to prove that music softens morals and softens the hearts of the cruelest creatures on the planet. Intended for children, Raiders of Noah’s Ark does not hesitate to go all out, at the risk of harming the unity of the subject and the political dimension of the story desired by the directors and screenwriter Sergio Machado. Which was inspired by the poems written about Noah’s ark by the Brazilian poet, lyricist and composer Vinicius de Moraes (1913-1980).

Of course, we understand at the beginning that, with the Flood, a climatic catastrophe is brewing. We then understand, without difficulty, that it is preferable for the most vulnerable to unite to confront tyrants and that art is a good remedy against barbarism. However, all these messages are drowned in a visual escalation – to which we must recognize an incontestable richness – and lose their power as the genre changes that the film makes.
