Dusk Creator Goes Immersive Sim With Gloomwood, Early Access August 16

Stealth, a cane-sword and a few holes between the shoulder blades of hooded cultists, what a sweet program for lovers of Victorian horror. Immersed in the mist of a city that we can imagine inspired by period London, but always in these environments low poly worthy of a game released twenty-five years ago, the hero of Gloomwood will have to get rid of more or less human enemies who intend to transform the city by spreading a mystical fog. Yes, influence Dishonored is never far away.

All this is obviously accompanied by levels that we are promised sprawling, from the deepest basements to the highest roofs, providing the player with great freedom of approach. Look in the interstices of the doors, cling to the windowsills, so many details that have been thought out beforehand to allow you to listen at the doors without being seen. But be careful to remain discreet, as the sound will spread realistically while the dynamic light will allow enemies to better spot the player. Fortunately, when things go wrong, there is still the possibility of shortening the proceedings with shotguns, collapsible shotguns, revolvers or even spearguns, not to mention the traps that can be laid out along the way.

With old-fashioned inventory management, we suspect that choices will have to be made at the start or during the mission, since many objects will be collectable and not all of them are necessarily intended to be sent to the heads of opponents. The answer is coming soon, with early access starting August 16 on Steam.
