In a press release, Techland communicates about Microsoft’s Smart Delivery, Cross-play, coop mode, but also the upgrade from PS4 to PS5 which will be free for Dying Light 2 Stay Human.

Techland confirms that Dying Light 2 Stay Human will allow PlayStation 4 players to have an upgrade for the PlayStation 5 for free. The game will also benefit from the service Microsoft Smart Delivery which will allow Xbox One players to update their game copy for Xbox Series X|S consoles for free.

Along with this news, the developers claim that the cross-platform and cross-gen cooperative experience on consoles will not be available at launch from Dying Light 2. Only cross-play between Steam and the Epic Games Store will be possible from February 4. Dying Light 2 Stay Human surpassed the 3 million mark on the Steam Wishlist, so you will need to find players for your future games in The City. Despite this news, which may sadden some players, Techland provides some additional information about the coop mode:

  • Aside from the prologue, Dying Light 2 Stay Human will be fully playable in co-op: this also includes the ability to complete the game.
  • Players will retain their items and progress after being invited into a session
  • Major choices in the game are made by all players by vote, but the game host will make the final decision.

As a reminder, Dying Light 2 Stay Human releases February 4, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, followed by a release on Nintendo Switch (Cloud Version) in 2022. And, don’t forget that Dying Light 2 will get 5 years of support with lots of new content and expansions.

In a press release, Techland deplores the delay that Dying Light 2 Stay Human will have on Nintendo Switch. For these players, the release date will therefore not be for February.
