Dynasty, Charmed, and Legacies canceled by the CW!

Sad news for fans of “Dynasty”, “Charmed” and “Legacies”. The American channel The CW has announced the discontinuation of several of its flagship series. The current seasons will therefore be the last.

New thunderclap for the CW. After recently canceling the DC series, Legends of tomorrow and Batwoman, it is now the turn of Dynasty, Charmed, Legacies, Roswell New Mexico, In the dark, 4400 and Naomi to end according to Deadline.

The American channel announced the end of seven series in just one day, news that greatly upset fans. Showrunner Julie Plec (Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Kyle XY) was particularly affected since she saw three of her productions canceled: Legacies and Roswell New Mexico by the CW, and The Endgame by NBC.

She quickly expressed herself on Twitter: “It’s the Red Wedding at WBTV/CW. Lots to say, but not today. Much gratitude to fans, cast and crew in future tweets. But today we mourn “.

Thus, the spin-off of The Originals, Legacies, will end its run on June 16 at the end of its fourth season, which will thus mark the end of the adventures of the Mikaelson family. And the end of the Vampire Diaries franchise, initiated in 2009. For the moment anyway.

As for the reboot of Charmed, the last episode of season 4, which will be broadcast on June 11 in the United States, will close the adventures of Mel, Maggie and Kaela (Lucy Barrett, introduced after the departure of Madeleine Mantock).

Roswell New Mexico (offered on Salto in France) and In the Dark will also end after their fourth season, which will begin airing June 6 on The CW. As for Naomi and 4400, they are not renewed for a second season and stop after only a few episodes.

But the cancellation that may well get the biggest buzz is that of Dynasty, which never shone on The CW but is hugely popular globally on Netflix. The disappointing audiences of the fifth season – and the previous ones – therefore ended up leading to its termination, despite the agreement between CBS Studios and Netflix which was an important source of money for the production and for the CW.

Will these cancellations really mark the end of Dynasty, Charmed or Legacies? Or will some of them be rescued by platforms or other TV channels? Fans who have already managed to save their favorite series in the past, as with Lucifer, anything is possible.

In France, find Dynastie on Netflix, Legacies and 4400 on SYFY, and Charmed and Roswell New Mexico on Salto.
