Dynatrace co-founder – technicians in short supply: “We have to start earlier”

Exactly 27,341 vacancies were registered with the Upper Austria Labor Market Service in September. This is just an indication of how much the economy is hungry for employees. The gap in IT specialists is also growing. According to the Dynatrace co-founder, “early education” is urgently needed to close them.

How can we continue the growth path, for which around 300 developers are currently brought on board every year? This is the question that concerns Sok-Kheng Taing, co-founder of software manufacturer Dynatrace. The company brings international specialists to the development center in Linz. At the same time, Dynatrace is doing a lot to increase enthusiasm for technology in the country so that young technology talent can grow up in Austria. “It’s not that we want everyone to become computer scientists, but it’s about making access possible,” says Sok- Kheng Taing, “there are often simply a lack of resources because the parents don’t work in technical professions.” Statements from three-year-old girls are “terrifying” It’s about starting the first activities in kindergarten: “Already three-year-old girls say that computer science is complicated and something for the boys. “That’s frightening,” said the 48-year-old. Postscript: “We need every initiative, but we have to start earlier and show possibilities in a playful way.”
