That’s really a price announcement – Aldi offers a really cheap e-bike from Fischer in its online shop. We reveal what you get for the money.

Since Sunday, March 17th, Aldi has been offering two new e-bikes in its online shop. The offer includes an e-mountain bike for 999 euros and a city e-bike for 777 euros. The latter is extremely attractively priced; e-bikes can easily cost several thousand euros. Of course, for less than 1,000 euros, you also have to accept compromises in terms of equipment.
The Fischer city e-bike Cita 1.0 with low entry has a front motor that supports you with 32 Newton meters. The “Bafang Silent Drive” model is sufficient even in hilly environments, but it is a bit weak for steep climbs.
The battery located under the luggage rack has a capacity of 317 watt hours. This is little compared to high-priced e-bikes, which have 500 watt hours and more. According to the manufacturer, the maximum range is at least 80 kilometers.
The Shimano hub gear offers three gears and requires less maintenance than derailleur gears. The biggest compromise you have to make is the brakes: there are no hydraulic disc brakes, only mechanical rim brakes.
At least there is a coaster brake, which is not a given in this price segment. The bike also has a suspension fork, a suspended seat post, and a lighting system is also installed.
Overall, the Aldi e-bike is particularly suitable for short tours or shopping trips. The equipment is simple, but that is to be expected given the low price. However, there is almost exclusively very positive customer feedback on the manufacturer’s website and from retailers. So if you don’t want to or can’t invest a lot of money in a Pedelec, you can get a solid bike at a low price from Aldi.
