E-mountain bike for 899 euros at Aldi: Who is worth buying the cheap e-bike for?

BARGAIN

If you are looking for a new e-bike for the coming cycling season, you will find it at Aldi. The discounter offers an e-mountain bike for well under 1,000 euros.

On offer at Aldi: Fischer Montis EM 1726 (Source: Fischer)

  • Aldi is offering a very affordable Fischer e-mountain bike from March 11th.
  • In terms of features, the price is really good.
  • The e-bike is more sufficient for short tours, even off-road.

If you are looking for a new e-bike, you will quickly end up in the price range from 3,000 euros and up. However, a good e-mountain bike can easily cost twice as much. However, if you only plan small tours or excursions, you don’t have to spend so much money, but can sometimes get it much cheaper.

An interesting offer is available in the Aldi online shop from March 11th. The discounter then offers an e-mountain bike from Fischer for just 899 euros. A great bargain in the e-bike sector – and with relatively decent equipment.

The Pedelec has 27.5-inch tires, which makes the bike slightly smaller but also more maneuverable than a 29-inch wheel. The battery has a capacity of 557 watt hours, which is really good. However, it sits on the down tube and is not integrated into the frame like higher-priced bikes – a matter of taste.

The rear wheel motor comes from Bafang. It supports up to 45 Newton meters. This is sufficient performance even for hilly or mountainous regions. However, on very steep climbs it reaches its limits and requires additional muscle strength from you. There are five support levels to choose from; according to the dealer, the maximum range is up to 140 kilometers.

Shimano gears, hydraulic disc brakes

There is also a 10-speed derailleur from Shimano, hydraulic disc brakes and a lighting system. The built-in suspension fork offers a travel of 100 millimeters and comes from SR Suntour. Bell and stand are also available.

The e-mountain bike weighs a total of around 26 kilograms, the maximum permissible total weight is 135 kilograms.

The equipment is not bad considering the very reasonable price of 900 euros. The rear wheel motor offers decent performance, the battery capacity is good – and you get hydraulic disc brakes. However, the installed components are very simple, no surprise.

The e-mountain bike is easily suitable for tours, even off asphalt roads. For difficult terrain or even trails, you should avoid it or go for a higher-priced model with better components.
