(CercleFinance.com) – E.ON says its climate targets have been officially endorsed by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi), which deemed them ‘suitable for limiting global warming to the level required by the Paris Agreement ‘.
“Every investment in the transformation of our energy system is both an investment in climate protection and in the security of supply that we need now,” comments CEO Leonhard Birnbaum.
A key element of the sustainability strategy pursued by E.ON is climate neutrality by 2040. The German energy group aims to reduce emissions by 100% on Scopes 1 and 2 by 2040, and on Scope 3 by 2050, relative to a base year of 2019.
