Last June, Domitys launched the “Domitys Cup”, an intergenerational video game tournament, with the support of Kayane.
Specializing in accommodation establishments adapted to independent elderly people, the Domitys company organized this year a major intergenerational video game tournament, with a final which took place this weekend at the Ultimate Fighting Arena in Paris. And it was the Germaine/Jean-Louis pair who captured the supreme title!

For this very first edition of the Domitys Cup, duos made up of a young person and a senior were formed in June. This is in order to carry out training according to the rules of the art, within 4 residences located in Bordeaux, Calais, Castelnau-le-Lez and Rueil-Malmaison. The grand final, for its part, took place this Wednesday, November 22, in the UFA arena.
“ Seeing seniors having so much fun playing a fighting game, having fun and experiencing strong emotional moments was so beautiful! It even makes me super proud that our passion can connect people in this way no matter where they come from or their age! », explains Kayane, professional gamer and fighting game expert.
Germaine, 94 years old, champion of Street Fighter
And for this first edition, it was a Castelnauvian duo who won, with Jean-Louis, a 33-year-old video game enthusiast, but also Germaine, a 94-year-old Domitys resident! On video games Street Fighter VIGermaine managed to knock out the competition, by using a character that is emblematic to say the least, namely Cammy, the second playable female character in the series (after Chun-Li), who appeared for the first time in 1993, in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers.
The winning pair won a check for 1,200 euros each, a trophy, a gourmet box “Le counter de Mathilde” without forgetting the clamor of a crazy public, who came to witness this competition which was, to say the least, original.
For Domitys: “ Video games also have relational advantages since they help combat isolation and strengthen intergenerational bonds, by sharing a common hobby with your grandchildren for example, all the more reason to get started! »
