In 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic, theE3 took quite a hit in the wing, where Geoff Keighley jumped at the chance to create the Summer Game Festan event to follow online. L’E3 2023 will be an opportunity for the show to reopen its doors to the public next Junebut big names would be missing.

According to this information, sony, Microsoft and nintendo would not participate in theE3 2023whether on the conference side or on the trade fair, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. If true, it would be a huge blow to theESAorganizer of theE3which would then deprive itself of the three major console manufacturers.
As a reminder, sony had already decided to stand apart in 2019but for the two other firms, it is a little more surprising. nintendo is a regular atE3taking advantage of the show to highlight its future big games with demos playable by journalists on stands, and it pioneered the format of pre-recorded videos with its Directa formula since taken up by all. Re Microsoftwell, the constructor of Xbox is a member of theESAPhil Spencer recently recalled the importance ofE3 for the press and the players, the latter awaiting news of Starfieldand the boss of Xbox has already confirmed the holding of a conference this summer. It could thus be that Xbox still hold a presentation as part of theE3 2023, but without offering stands to visitors… or how to definitively bury the Los Angeles show. On his side, ReedPopwhich is organizing the show this year, commented:
E3 is such an important event for the gaming industry and being entrusted with such an important cultural cornerstone is not a responsibility ReedPop takes lightly. Since ReedPop accepted the contract to host E3 six months ago, we have worked diligently with ESA members based on their feedback to create a new kind of E3 that meets their goals. and their needs.
This process took time due to the sheer number of stakeholders who provided input, although we appreciate that we could have been more transparent about the questions for which we were still finalizing responses. We continue to work tirelessly to create a spectacle that brings the global gaming industry together. We believe we have created a new format for the event that meets the needs of the industry and its fans, and we are committed to building it and develop it in the years to come.
While we spent much of 2022 fine-tuning how E3 2023 would take shape, reflecting on the feedback we received, we did not send out a single contract to an exhibitor until early this month. We’ve received tremendous interest and verbal commitments from many of the biggest companies in the industry, and when we’re ready to announce exhibitors, we’re confident this will be a lineup that will make the trip to Los Angeles is worth it for industry and consumers.
A statement that neither confirms nor denies anything, because the schedule is far from being finalized. Anyway, this 2023 edition of theE3 promises a few more surprises… For his part, Geofff Keighley did not fail to recall that the Summer Game Fest will take place on June 8, one week before I’E3 2023which will be held from June 13 to 16first for journalists and then for fans.
