EA backtracks on NFTs

If last year Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson seemed more for NFTs, he recently gave a second thought to it and reversed somewhat. Indeed, three months ago, Andrew Wilson viewed NFTs as “ the future of counter industry “. A thought to which he now returns and explains himself.

It was very recently, during their review of the third quarter of the 2022-2023 fiscal year, that EA’s CEO returned his first consideration towards NFTs. According to comments relayed by VGC, he said: “ I think collecting is and will continue to be an important part of our industry, of games, and of player experiences. Whether this is in the context of NFTs or blockchain remains to be seen. I think the way we think about it is that we want to provide the best possible experience for players, and so we’ll be evaluating that over time, it’s not something we focus on Moreover, according to him, NFTs are comparable to other technologies that have led to significant external investments, such as 3D and virtual reality.

Thus, EA does not intend to make NFTs their priority, for the moment.. A decision that should please the majority of players, who do not seem favorable to their appearance in general.
