EA formalizes its Black Panther game and opens the Cliffhanger Games studio

A year ago, rumors suggested that a game Black Panther was in development at EA. Today, the studio confirms its existence, in addition to announcing the opening of a new studio, Cliffhanger Games. This will therefore be the first project for them, but the veterans who compose it should largely get by. Among them is Kevin Stephens, recognized for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordoras well as people who have worked on Halo Infinite, god of war or call of duty. Suffice to say that few people have the chance to start in such good conditions.

Regarding the game itself, very little information is shared. Developed in partnership with Marvel Games, it is a single-player third-person game. Embodying the Black Panther, protector of Wakanda, players will be able to explore an open world that is intended to be reactive. A way to create greater immersion, with consequences that will be visible at all times. Nothing about micro-transactions, though experiences Jedi: Fallen Order And Jedi: Survivor lead us to think that they should not be present.

Obviously, for Cliffhanger Games, developing a title Black Panther on behalf of EA is a godsend. This will be an opportunity to mark the spirits from their first project and, if all goes well, to afford a brand image. For a studio looking to branch out into AAA production, there’s no better start.

“We want our game to allow players to experience what it’s like to be worthy of the Black Panther costume in a unique, story-driven way. »
