EA Games admits Battlefield 2042 failure, studio saved by Apex Legends

It’s the turn ofElectronic Arts to unveil its latest financial report, and it is positive. EA Games checked in net revenues of $7.2 billion over the last 12 months, an increase of 22% compared to last year, and with a record third quarter as a bonus. And most importantly, 540 million unique players have played its titles, with more than 180 million monthly users.

EA Games can mostly rely on Apex Legendshis Battle Royale hit show with a 30% increase in players compared to last year. What to compensate for the failure of Battlefield 2042because yes, the CEO Andrew Wilson admits that “the game did not meet their expectations”. He tries to explain that the development team wanted to innovate on several different terrains (large maps, new game modes, new mechanics of gameplayetc.), but the bugs marred the experience. EA Games nevertheless launched Battlefield 2042 in a condition which he deemed sufficiently stable and he didn’t expect players to experience so many performance and stability issues. Blake Jorgensen, COO ofElectronic Artsspeaks of a “disappointment”.

At any rate, the studio reiterates its desire to save Battlefield 2042, updates have already been released, and more will come. The developers recently pushed back the launch of the Season 1 to focus on fixing these major issues, hopefully that’s enough to turn the tide. You can find the game at €34.79 on Amazon.
