Leaving a server on is expensive, and publishers end up shutting them down after a few years, depriving older video games of their online functionality. Electronic Arts is no exception to the rule, and in the coming weeks, it will stop the online services of several titles.
Concretely, it will still be possible to enjoy these games solo, regardless of platform, but multiplayer games and other internet-related features will no longer be available after these dates. Here is the program :
October 20, 2022 :
- Army of Two: The 40th Day ;
- Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel ;
- Dragon Age Origins (Multiplayer capture server).
November 9, 2022 :
- Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360);
- Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars (Xbox 360, with Kane’s Wrath expansion);
- Mercenaries 2 (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360).
November 30, 2022 :
December 15, 2022 :
- Super Mega Baseball: Extra Innings (Luna+);
- Super Mega Baseball 3 (Luna+).
January 19, 2023 :
- Gatling Gears ;
- Mirror’s Edge ;
- NBA Jam On Fire Edition ;
- Shank 2.
All these games are obviously old, but it’s a shame to see features being abandoned in this way. You can find the recent FIFA 23 at €74.99 on Amazon.
