While EA SPORTS has taken a stand to remove Russia-related content in FIFA 22, players have noticed that they have, however, failed to remove one particularly noticeable item.
On March 2, days after Russian military forces invaded Ukraine, Electronic Arts issued a statement confirming that Russia would be removed from its sports video games.
FIFA 22 and NHL 22 have both been impacted by this measure, with the development studios behind both series having “initiated processes” to remove a number of items.
Five days after this announcement, an alert appeared in the Ultimate Team mode stating that Russian club player cards, associated kits and stadiums, as well as its national team, would be wiped from the game.
However, an element related to Russia has been totally overlooked, and is still visible in the game.
EA has informed players that all Russian content has now been removed from FIFA 22.

EA SPORTS currently holds a license agreement for the UEFA Champions League, which means that European competitions organized by the football body appear in its games.
This includes not only the official logos and music, but also the sponsors that fans can see on the edge of the pitches.
And one of them is Gazprom, which is based in Russia and specializes in the gas industry.
While UEFA ended its partnership with the Russian energy multinational on February 28, following the country’s military action against Ukraine, that branding still remains visible in FIFA 22.
Gazprom still appears in Champions League matches played in Career mode.
However, after some testing, it seems that this company only appears in Career mode and not in other game modes.
Of course, it’s only a matter of time before EA SPORTS changes that.
