EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2: Technics is working hard for its new headphones

After more than convincing EAH-AZ60s (we gave them a 5-star rating during their test), Technics is doing it again with not one, but two new pairs of true wireless headphones. Here are the EAH-AZ80s, which are positioned as the new top-of-the-range model, and the EAH-AZ60M2s, an improved version of the first EAH-AZ60s of the name.

EAH-AZ80, the new spearheads

The EAH-AZ80 differ from the EAH-AZ60M2 in their design and structure, which are supposed to provide better feelings of comfort and excellent stability. They also differ on the audio part, since they embed new 10 mm speakers supposed to improve the frequency response and limit distortion. The EAH-AZ80s would thus offer “the best sound reproduction to date for Technics headphones”.

The EAH-AZ60M2 incorporate the design of their predecessors, the EAH-AZ60, as well as the same acoustic architecture.

The promise of unparalleled noise reduction and voice pickup

The EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 feature an improved version of JustMyVoice, the Technics voice capture technology already present on the first EAH-AZ60. Each earphone is thus equipped with four microphones which work together to best capture the user’s voice and attenuate surrounding noise (wind, traffic, discussions, etc.).

The onboard microphones are also used to operate the active noise reduction which, according to the Panasonic subsidiary, would be the best on the market. In addition, the headphones have different listening modes for ambient sounds that can be adjusted in the Technics Audio Connect app.

A plethora of features

One of the big new features introduced with these two pairs of headphones is a multipoint feature allowing up to three devices to be paired simultaneously, where the rest of the market is limited to two. It will thus be possible to juggle between his smartphone, his PC and his tablet for example, without having to perform any manipulation.

But that’s not all. The EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 are also compatible with the LDAC Bluetooth codec, IPX4 certified, supplied with seven tip sizes and compatible with induction charging… In addition, they natively embed Alexa and also benefit from the excellent app Technics Audio Connect, which benefits for the occasion from some new features such as a more precise equalizer.

The new EAH-AZ80 and EAH-AZ60M2 will be available by the end of May at prices of €299 and €249 respectively. The EAH-AZ80 model will be available in black or silver, the EAH-AZ60M2 in black, silver or blue.
