Earn Bitcoin while listening to podcasts? That’s possible

A new cooperation between ZEBEDEE and the podcast platform Fountain now enables users to earn Bitcoin while listening to podcasts. Zebedee specializes in monetizing games and apps through Lightning microtransactions.

“In a few years we will look back at paid subscriptions to content platforms that have nothing to do with actually using those platforms and laugh at how easy and inefficient that was,” Fountain CEO Oscar Merry said in a statement.

With the Lightning network you are able to make fast, secure and above all inexpensive Bitcoin transactions. The ability to send even small amounts of bitcoin at very low fees enables completely new monetization models. With “Listen-to-Earn” classic advertising concepts or streaming subscriptions could be revolutionized. The special thing about it: The listeners can also use it to earn Bitcoin.

Listen to the podcast, secure Bitcoin – that’s how it works

With the integration of ZEBEDEE, the Fountain app not only streams audio but also money, both ways. So the project wants to offer monetary incentives for both sides. Specifically, it said in a statement: “Listeners can now pay for podcasts and shows by the minute, and producers can advertise more efficiently by only paying for advertising content that has been consumed. And to top it all off, you don’t have to pay anything for the first hour of daily podcast listening – listeners make money instead.” The model therefore provides for the financing of the content to be handled via real-time transactions. You only have to pay for what you actually hear.

However, this does not apply to the first hour of daily listening. Because during this time the tables are turned and the listeners can earn Bitcoin. This way, users get paid for listening to content they enjoy, while producers get a very efficient way of reaching an interested audience.

The project also helps to reduce fears of contact with Bitcoin and the Lightning network. Users do not need to have any special knowledge about Bitcoin to use the app. Credit can also be easily topped up using a debit or credit card.
