Earthquake operation – Upper Austria’s lifesaver back from Turkey

They’re back! Three lifeguards from Upper Austria came back with their comrades from the earthquake area in Turkey. When she got home she received an overwhelming welcome. The most important thing for everyone is: “We came home healthy and saved lives!”

Hundreds of relatives, friends, comrades and, last but not least, Defense Minister Claudia Tanner were waiting for the returnees from Turkey at Vienna-Schwechat Airport. They had searched almost continuously for survivors for almost ten days and rescued nine people from the rubble. The two dog handlers of the Traun fire brigade’s rescue dog squadron, Gerald Schmidberger with “Action” and Markus Gruber with “Boom”, came together with the third Upper Austrian, Patrick Arzt from the army, barracks Hörsching. They were overwhelmed by the welcome they were given. They will report in more detail on their mission on Friday. These are certainly impressions that will stay with you for the rest of your life. The remaining twelve members of the team will also follow in the coming days and 25 tons of equipment will be brought back to Austria.
