fun, news, tips… what else?

It is complicated to wash your sneakers after each sports session. To fight against bad odors, however, there is a simple trick.

Sweating profusely during a sports session is both healthy, provided you are well hydrated, and satisfying. On the other hand, the smell is never very pleasant, especially when the clothes have dried. It is not always possible or easy to clean all your belongings in the washing machine between two sessions. This is especially true for shoes.

So you can end up with smelly sneakers lying around at home. However, these odors can easily be eliminated with natural products. Already known for its usefulness as a cleaning or anti-limescale household product, baking soda can also be used here. It has bacteriostatic properties. It does not kill bacteria, but paralyzes their action. However, bad odors are often caused by the “digestion” of bacteria living on our skin and which feed on our sweat.

Sprinkled or in a sock

To limit or even eliminate bad smells, sprinkle them with baking soda just after removing them, then leave it on for at least 24 hours. Just shake them out before putting them back on. The trick can also apply to your gym bag or other belongings. In addition to being deodorant, it absorbs humidity.

For an even more effective action against the smell of shoes, it can be combined with other substances taking a little longer. Mix a quarter cup of baking soda, the same amount of baking powder and half a cup of cornstarch. You can also simply sprinkle the mixture in your shoes. To avoid having to empty the baskets afterwards or to prepare the mixture in advance, you can also pour it into cotton socks and slip them into the shoes. A mixture of white vinegar and water can also be sprayed on, but the drying time will have to be taken into account.
