Easter bunny is an essential worker

Jacinda Ardern, the New Zealand Prime Minister, sent a message to the children of the country, reassuring them about the work of the Easter bunny and the little mouse.

In this anxiety-provoking world, a little escape and childlike sweetness. Jacinda Ardern, the New Zealand Prime Minister, had a few words for her little fellow citizens during a press briefing recorded from her cabinet. The politician clarified that the Easter bunny and the little mouse were "workers providing an essential service and, as such, will continue to operate during containment".

With Easter celebrations approaching, Jacinda Ardern wanted to reassure the youngest. Without giving them false hopes.

"You can imagine that at the moment, the rabbits are surely in their burrow, where they take care of their family of small rabbits. This is why I would like to say to the children of New Zealand: if the Easter bunny does not come to your house this year, it must be remembered that at present it is difficult for him to go to all the houses", she explains.

Like many countries in the world, New Zealand is a country in containment. National authorities announced on Monday 54 new cases out of 1,160 in all.

The idea of coloring

If Mister Rabbit cannot come, Jacinda Ardern suggested that the children create their own egg hunt in their neighborhood, by sticking drawings of Easter eggs on their windows. A week ago, teddy bears had already appeared in New Zealand windows, a challenge to brighten the rare outings of children, who count the number of cubs unearthed during their ride.

"I tell the little New Zealanders that if the Easter bunny doesn't come through your house, you have to understand it because it's a little difficult right now for him to go everywhere. But I thought of something, what if, instead of having the rabbit at home, you set up your own egg hunt for all the other children in the neighborhood? You could draw Easter eggs and hang them on the windows.", she adds.

The Prime Minister even posted a drawing on her Instagram account, which children will only have to color and display on their windows. She also invited the young artists to send her their most beautiful creations via the hassthag #NZEggHunt on social networks and she promised to share some of them.
